Where do I begin?
I previously used the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser (I’ll post a review of this product in the future) and decided I needed a change.
Now I am partial to balm cleansers primarily because I can’t be bothered with multiple cleanses and too many night-time steps (I mean have you seen my nighttime routine!!). This is the same reason I tend to go easy on the heavy eye make-up as no-one has time for all that jazz.
Anyway I took my bougie self into SpaceNK which is my dealer of choice with skincare. I had previously received an Algenist Cleanser Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser sachet sample in my previous purchase, which worked ok. I mean what can one tell from a clumsily ripped sachet when under the shower.
My curiosity was piqued when watching Tati on YouTube (Glamlife Guru) who stated she was using the product, obviously I saw this before she posted her review stating she wasn’t too impressed with the product. But that’s all in the future.
I bought the cleanser and proceeded to use it…..
Well my first attempt felt like I was spreading sticky glue all over my face, there wasn’t much slip and rubbing it in to lift the dirt and grease off my skin felt very hard-going.
The transformation of the cleanser to a silky oil from a gel did not happen and the further transformation to a milky emulsion was not evidenced by me (admittedly I do wear glasses, but I don’t think I would have missed a milky emulsion in my sink). I thought it wasn’t working because I was a bit tired and maybe a bit of vigorous elbow grease was required to achieve the required results.
I attempted using the product the next evening and the experience was the same with added insult upon injury, the purple waterproof eyeliner I had on which was By Terry Line Designer just refused to be be removed by this cleanser.
I was and I am still very disappointed, so not only was I spreading a thick, sticky glue like cleanser on my face with no slip to enable cleansing, it couldn’t even remove waterproof eyeliner. I mean what’s the point.
I am still suffering through the use of this cleanser as I refuse to be outwitted by some inanimate thing, especially one which cost me bloody £32!
So I will not be recommending this product and will rate this a FAIL.
